Starship delivery robot
Starship delivery robots are designed and manufactured by Starship Technologies , an Estonian/US company that launched in 2017 and operates in Estonia, Finland, Germany, UK, USA and other countries, often in partnership with local supermakets and logistics companies. Starship robots can travel at a max speed of 6 kilometres per hour (3.7 mph) and use AI, machine learning, cameras, ultrasound, radar, sensors and GPS to travel along pavements and cross streets. The company has claimed that its robots are "99 percent autonomous". In March 2022 it told Nordic Ninja VC that Starship’s delivery costs are now lower than the human equivalent. Starship delivery robots have been known to collide with pedestrians, cars and trains, get lost, or tak e too much time to make deliveries, resulting in physical damage, the delay of public services, legal liability issues, and distress and anger . C onc erns have also been voiced about their impact on jobs.
