Study: Social media firms fail to take down anti-Semitic content
Facebook, Google, TikTok, Twitter, and other major social media platforms were called out for routinely failing to take down anti-Semitic posts on their platforms, despite being flagged. Analysing over 'anti-Jewish' 700 posts invoking Holocaust denial and forms of neo-Nazism which had collectively been viewed 7.3 million times, the Center for Countering Digital Hate ( CCDH) discovered that 84 percent had not been not acted upon. Facebook was the worst offender, failing to remove 89 percent of anti-Semitic posts. Facebook says 97 percent of hate speech was discovered by its system before it was reported by users. The finding raised questions about the effectiveness of the companies' respective content management systems, which had become increasingly powered by AI.
