Tesla with FSD reportedly activated drives into tree, injuring driver
A Tesla reportedly in 'self-driving mode' drove into a tree near Big Rapids, Michigan, injuring the driver, who was despatched to hospital. A 41-year-old woman was driving her Tesla near Big Rapids, USA when the vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree, and rolled over several times. The driver was the sole occupant and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver told police that the incident occurred after she had switched the car to self-drive, thereby calling into question the safety and reliability of Tesla's Autopilot driver assistance system . Media reports at the time mentioned that there is no such thing as 'self-driving mode' on Tesla cars, though the company offers Full Self-Driving (FSD), which automatically performs many driving tasks but which also requires driver monitoring.
