US FTC investigates ChatGPT for possible consumer harms
OpenAI is being investigated by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over whether ChatGPT made 'false, misleading, disparaging or harmful' statements about people. According to a letter sent to OpenAI, the FTC is looking into whether the AI tool has harmed people by generating incorrect information about them, including possible 'reputational harm', as well as into OpenAI's privacy and data security practices.
