Five cars race at Imola with no one at the wheel: a crash decides the race
Five driverless single-seaters competed for 12 laps at the Imola circuit in the first European race among multiple fully autonomous cars. All teams used the same vehicle, with the difference made by real-time perception, planning, and decision-making software. A crash occurred when the leading car, Unimore, slowed due to a technical fault and was hit from behind by PoliMOVE, paving the way for the Emirati team Kinetiz to win.
