The class action alleges that Jumio captured the face geometries of Illinois residents through its NetVerify service without meeting the informed consent requirements of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. The suit covers captures between December 21, 2013 and December 23, 2019. Jumio denies that it violated the law. Biometric Update reported in February 2020 that Jumio had reached a proposed $7 million settlement.
