A Tesla Model 3 failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Honda Civic in Buena Vista Township, New Jersey, on July 6, 2025. The Honda driver, 82-year-old Stephen Field, died. Tesla's report to NHTSA confirms a driver-assistance system was active at the time, but it is not yet known whether it was Autopilot or Full Self-Driving.
