A wrongful death lawsuit filed Sept. 15, 2026 in Washoe County, Nevada (Case No. CV26-02676) alleges that on June 28, 2026, a Tesla-owned Semi driven by a Tesla employee struck Jennifer and Sergio Villanueva's car from behind while it was stopped at a red light in Dayton, killing both. The complaint alleges the driver had fallen asleep and never braked, and that Tesla either did not install collision-avoidance and automatic emergency braking features, or they did not work or could be turned off. The allegations have not been proven in court.
