IBM scraped millions of Flickr photos without consent for facial recognition training
IBM released a dataset of nearly a million photos scraped from Flickr without the knowledge or consent of the photographers. The photos were annotated with facial measurements and skin tone to train facial recognition algorithms. Photographers expressed surprise and concern that their images were used without permission. IBM said it would remove photos upon request but did not publicly share the list of affected users.
