Residents of the Lower Umatilla Basin in Morrow and Umatilla counties, Oregon, brought a class action alleging that millions of gallons of wastewater from Amazon's data centres added to nitrate contamination of their groundwater. Amazon agreed to a $20.5 million settlement in March 2026 while denying it contributed to the contamination.
