Residents in Aurora, a western suburb of Chicago, say noise from the nearby CyrusOne data center has grown worse since the campus expanded, with fans and generators audible day and night. CyrusOne says it is installing sound barriers and other noise-reduction equipment, while residents have also raised concerns about higher electricity bills. State lawmakers have proposed requiring data centers to disclose their water and electricity use and limiting the costs passed on to consumers.
