Tesla Autopilot suspected in two fatal motorcycle crashes

In July 2022, two motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes involving Teslas suspected of using Autopilot. Both crashes occurred at night and involved cruiser motorcycles with low-set taillights. A theory suggests that Tesla's camera-only system, Tesla Vision, may have misidentified the close-together taillights as distant car headlights, leading to the collisions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating both incidents.
