Russian authorities use facial recognition to arrest Navalny funeral attendees

Russian police in Moscow have begun arresting people who attended Alexey Navalny's funeral on March 1, 2024, using facial recognition and surveillance footage. A Moscow woman was charged with displaying a banned symbol after police identified her from a video. The human rights project OVD-Info reported the arrests, and a spokesman noted that Moscow's facial recognition system enables authorities to trace individuals' movements.
