Amazon France fined €32m for illegal worker surveillance
Amazon France Logistique was fined €32m (£27m) by France's data protection authority, the CNIL, for illegally monitoring warehouse workers through handheld scanners. The system tracked scanning speed, break durations, and stored data for 31 days, leading to workers potentially having to justify every brief interruption. The CNIL found the surveillance to be excessive and in breach of GDPR. Amazon disputes the findings and stated it may appeal.
