Lowe's uses face recognition on customers without disclosure
Lowe's, a hardware retailer, uses face recognition technology in its stores to identify known shoplifters without informing customers. The ACLU contacted Lowe's and they confirmed the practice. The company states that they do not retain facial data on non-matches. The use of face recognition raises privacy concerns and has been found to have racially differential impacts.
