Puerto Rico will receive $124.7 million as part of the court settlement with Meta over harm caused by its social networks to minors

Puerto Rico has joined a multistate settlement with Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, and will receive at least $124.7 million paid in 10 installments. The agreement also requires Meta to change the design and operation of its platforms for underage users, including age verification, a two-hour daily limit, mandatory pauses, and a school mode. At least half of the money must be used to address the alleged harms to Puerto Rican children and youth, in coordination with health and education agencies.
