Sambau Residents Block Nongsa Digital Park: “We Just Want Water”

Dozens of residents from Kavling Bakau Serip in Sambau blocked the entrance to Nongsa Digital Park on October 5, protesting water shortages that they said had lasted more than three months. They said they had to rely on tanker deliveries, whose water was dirty and foul-smelling. The manager of water provider Air Batam Hilir said three neighborhood units were affected, with an estimated 160 homes now impacted, and that the company would review residents’ bills individually.
