Quebec man sentenced for creating AI-generated child pornography videos

Steven Larouche, 61, of Sherbrooke, Quebec, pleaded guilty to using deepfake technology to create at least seven synthetic videos of child sexual abuse. He also possessed hundreds of thousands of child pornography files. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison, with credit for time served. The judge noted this may be the first Canadian case involving deepfakes of child sexual exploitation.
