Meta systematically censored Palestine content on Instagram and Facebook
Between October and November 2023, Human Rights Watch documented over 1,050 cases of Meta removing or suppressing peaceful content in support of Palestine on Instagram and Facebook. The censorship was systemic and global, affecting users from over 60 countries. Meta's flawed policies and heavy reliance on automated tools led to erroneous removals. Meta has acknowledged the issue but failed to address it adequately.
