During a five-month trial, Western Australia Police scanned 1,380,882 faces across 43 locations in 100 deployments. System alerts contributed to 122 arrests, contact with 146 registered sex offenders and welfare checks on 10 people. Police said the system misidentified people nine times; camera-equipped patrol cars have been withdrawn from public places while the technology is reviewed.
