Freeway assisted driving crash kills 3; Freeway Bureau warns of 6 blind spots, proposes adding to driver exams

On August 9, a three-car pileup on National Freeway 1 in Miaoli killed three and injured three after a driver using assisted driving failed to notice stopped vehicles. The Freeway Bureau later warned that current driver-assistance systems may not detect six road conditions, such as stationary vehicles or sharp curves, and suggested these situations be included in driver training and testing.
