Two fatal Tesla Model 3 crashes occurred in Florida and Arizona while driver assistance systems were active
An Electrek report found that Tesla's driver assistance system was active in two fatal crashes. On October 6, 2022, in Florida, a 43-year-old man died after his Tesla Model 3 stopped in an active lane and was rear-ended by a truck. On October 31, 2025, in Arizona, another Tesla driver was killed after the vehicle suddenly stopped. Tesla's reports to NHTSA confirmed that Autopilot was active in both incidents.
