"AI decided so" won't work: algorithms are starting to influence employee salaries - www1.ru
Companies are increasingly using AI to calculate salaries, bonuses and other employee payments, on the basis that algorithms can weigh more factors and identify imbalances a human might miss. Alexander Khaminsky, head of the Center for Law and Order in Moscow and Moscow Oblast, warned that the objectivity of such a system depends entirely on the data and rules embedded in it: if the initial criteria contain bias, the algorithm does not correct it but scales it across a larger number of employees. The employer remains responsible for equal pay and non-discrimination, and "AI decided so" is not a sufficient explanation to an employee whose pay was changed.
