TikTok Parent ByteDance Faces Lawsuit Over YouTube Content Used to Train AI

A U.S. federal judge allowed a lawsuit to proceed accusing ByteDance of bypassing YouTube’s technical safeguards to collect videos for training generative AI models. The plaintiffs, Ted Entertainment and creator Matt Fisher, allege that ByteDance used automated tools, virtual machines and rotating IP addresses to evade detection, violating the DMCA and costing them advertising revenue; ByteDance disputes the claims.
