NYPD Ends Times Square Subway Robot Pilot Program

The New York Police Department ended its pilot program for a Knightscope K5 robot that patrolled the Times Square subway station. The robot, equipped with cameras sending real-time footage to NYPD, was removed due to its general uselessness. The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) welcomed its removal and criticized the expense and privacy implications.
