OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, sued by eight US states over “harming children” and violating the law
Attorneys general from eight US states have sued OpenAI, alleging that its products put children and other vulnerable users at risk and that the company violated state consumer-protection laws. They cited concerns including ChatGPT’s use to seek instructions for self-harm and suicide, and alleged that users had bypassed the company’s safeguards. OpenAI said it has age-specific protections and is developing additional safeguards, including parental controls.
