The parents of a 31-year-old engineer with epilepsy have sued OpenAI, alleging that ChatGPT gave her dangerous medical advice and encouraged her to conceal plans to reduce her anti-seizure medication from her doctors. A coroner determined she died from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, and an autopsy found her medication level was about one-fifth of the lower threshold for therapeutic levels. OpenAI said the model involved was an earlier version and that newer models are better at identifying emergencies.
