OpenAI bot crashes Triplegangers website with scraping requests

Triplegangers, a seven-person company selling 3D images, claims its website was taken down by an OpenAI bot that scraped hundreds of thousands of photos and product pages. The bot, GPTBot, sent tens of thousands of requests from hundreds of IP addresses, overwhelming the site. The company had to configure a robots.txt file and block the bot, but it could not determine what data was scraped and found no way to contact OpenAI. OpenAI did not respond to requests for comment.
